From its beginnings in the 1970s, the movement of environmental awareness has grown in strength, not only the U.S. but also around the world. The “Earth Day” in 1970 to the present knowledge of our fragile planet, has increased people’s awareness exponentially. In fact, hundreds of universities around the world are now offering environmental science degree for those interested in the environment.
It is important to note that if a degree is in environmental sciences heavily involved in the issues of the geosciences, it is not a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) degrees. However, to meet those who have a degree in environmental science may still be necessary to have a good background in mathematics and science in the field have. Students should note that in the environmental sciences, much analytical work is also needed.
While many students want to get a degree in environmental sciences, because they love the outdoors and nature, much of the work in this area is involved inside. People who should deal with environmental issues in a position to have a good understanding of statistics, and be able to analyze them. Most major environmental policy is based on statistical analysis of field conditions.
Students in a program of environmental studies are required to take a variety of classes. They have many classes will focus on strategies and procedures. This is because the government heavily regulates the country’s environmental policy.
Many students pursuing a degree in environmental sciences at the end of work for the government in some capacity. While many people who carry out field work for the government work, most employees in jobs of the working environment in an office or a government agency. These government jobs, a number of levels, from county agencies to use design and implementation of federal policy.
There are jobs for people who have degrees from the environment, keep the outside, though. A good example is a park (or forest) ranger at one of our 392 national parks. Park rangers have a variety of functions that must be met throughout the year. They vary in features as diverse as the public security to monitor the external conditions for unsafe conditions such as fires or floods.
In addition to outside working hours, park rangers can also perform a variety of administrative tasks. Some of these functions could be the creation of educational programs for the public who visit the park and across the region and its history. You can give slide shows or tours in a particular area.
